Idea 1: An Art Challenge on Instagram
I used to do art challenges like people drink water, constantly, unconsciously, without realizing I was building a thing. That’s how this all began. Not some big vision. Just... little prompts. Doodles. Bad lighting. Surprising myself. So now I’m thinking: what if I hosted one?
A monthly challenge? That feels... ambitious. But what would we do? What’s the theme? Should there even be a theme? Should we all just make things and pretend it’s connected?
What if we make an exquisite corpse? You send in a part, I send in a part, your cousin who draws on napkins sends in a part. We stitch it all together and then reveal it at the end. A week-long exquisite corpse (!!) Still need to figure out exactly how we can do this. Any suggestions? this?
Idea 2: A Weekly Workshop, Right Here on Substack
How about…every week, I send out a special newsletter. Inside: one exercise. Things that worked when nothing else did. Things that made me forget I was trying to make art and then, *surprise*, art appeared anyway. You can do it. Or not. Or just think about doing it, and that’s enough. Sometimes, thinking is the real work. It would be a paid thing. A little creative prescription. Journal Ointment for the chronically inspired…
Idea 3: Goodbye Etsy, Hello New Shop
I’m closing my Etsy (I’ll write a whole post about it soon). I want to open a new shop. Cool design. Just five listings. That’s it. Simple. As a goodbye to Etsy, I’ve made everything 50% off.Idea 4: A Zine
I’m working on a physical zine. Or something that feels like a zine. I’m not exactly sure what it is yet…
I love everything you write. When a new post from you drops in my mail box I literally leave everything and read it. I love your words, doodles, stories. There is no pattern, all is unexpected and makes sense in the same time. You are an inspiration. However you want to continue here I will do my best to follow🌷
I second that too! 🪺
